Kono holds talks with new Chinese envoy to Japan

Nikkei wrote that Foreign Minister Kono held talks on Monday with Chinese Ambassador to Japan Kong Xuanyou, who assumed his post in late May. According to the paper, they agreed to cooperate in further developing relations between Japan and China. Noting that the Reiwa Era recently began in Japan and that the People’s Republic of China will mark the 70th anniversary of its establishment in October, Kono expressed hope that Japan and China will further develop their bilateral relationship in the new era. Kong reportedly said in reply that he will make utmost efforts to establish sound relations with Japan.
