NHK reported today that the Okinawa Defense Bureau started unloading earth transported by ships onto trucks this afternoon at the K-8 section of the embankment in waters off Henoko in preparation for pouring it into the ocean in order to speed up the reclamation process. This will mean that earth pouring will now take place simultaneously at the K-8 section and the K-9 section of the embankment. In response to this development, Governor Tamaki said that he will issue an administrative order to stop this operation, criticizing what he called the Tokyo government’s “outrageous act” that gives no consideration to the impact on the environment.
