G20 energy officials call for use of hydrogen as next-generation energy source

Mainichi reported on Sunday that senior energy officials of Japan, the U.S., and the EU held a meeting in Karuizawa on Saturday, highlighting a joint communique in which they agreed to promote the use of hydrogen as a next-generation energy source. The participants confirmed the importance of reducing the cost of hydrogen, pledged to create global standards for products related to fuel-cell vehicles such as tanks for storing hydrogen, and agreed to establish safety regulations for hydrogen supply stations.
