KARUIZAWA, Japan — The following is the gist of a joint communique issued by the Group of 20 environment and energy ministers after their two-day meeting that ended Sunday in the Japanese town of Karuizawa.
The G-20:
— agrees to create an international framework to reduce plastic pollution in the ocean.
— stresses the importance of realizing a virtuous cycle of environmental protection and economic growth.
— suggests members, excluding the United States, reaffirm their commitment to implement the Paris Agreement on climate change.
— emphasizes the importance of preventing energy supply disruptions and facilitating stable markets.
