All national papers except Mainichi reported that during a regular press conference on Tuesday, Defense Minister Iwaya disclosed that the results of the ministry’s previous geographical surveys for identifying the best location for Aegis Ashore batteries included additional flawed data. The minister reportedly attributed the error to the use of Google Earth software, which did not provide accurate data on the height of a mountain near one of the potential deployment sites.
