A consortium of Japanese companies will participate in the operation of the New Ulaanbaatar International Airport being built in the Mongolian capital, it has been decided. The corporate consortium is composed of Mitsubishi Corporation, Narita International Airport Corporation (NAA), Japan Airport Terminal Co., Ltd., and JALUX Inc. Japan Airport Terminal Co. operates the passenger terminal buildings at Haneda Airport. The corporate consortium has entered into a 15-year concession agreement with the Mongolian government.
The Japanese government is promoting infrastructure development overseas, and the companies will leverage the expertise they have gained through the operation of Japan’s domestic airports. This is the first time for NAA to participate in the operation of an airport overseas.
