Gov’t provides 7.9 billion yen in subsidies to seven political parties

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications provided a total of 7.943 billion yen on July 19 in the second tranche of government subsidies to eight political parties in 2019 (the total amount of 31.773 billion yen). The number of subsidy recipients was reduced to six following the Liberal Party’s dissolution and merger with the Democratic Party for the People and the Party of Hope’s disqualification as a political party. The remaining amount for 2019 was provided to the Party of Hope as a “special subsidy.” The Japanese Communist Party did not apply for a subsidy. The subsidies provided to the political parties in the order of the amount were as follows (Numbers are rounded down to the nearest million yen):
