Strength of in-house groups in House of Councillors

On July 30, the parliamentary groups of the House of Councillors submitted to the Secretariat of the House of Councillors a roster of the house members belonging to their group after the election. The LDP’s parliamentary group held 114 seats, falling short of a majority (123 seats). Independents Yukiko Kada (Shiga constituency) and Takako Nagae (Ehime constituency), who ran as joint opposition party candidates and were elected to the house for the first time, notified the Secretariat of the new parliamentary group they formed called Hekisuikai. [Takashi Tachibana, leader of the Party to Protect the People from NHK, and independent Yoshimi Watanabe, former leader of the now-defunct Your Party, have formed a new parliamentary group called Minna no To.] The strength of the House of Councillors in-house groups is now as follows.
