Senior U.S. official voices concern about removal of ROK from export “white list”

NHK reported this morning that an unnamed senior U.S. official told the media yesterday that the U.S. government is concerned that the impact of Japan’s removal of the ROK from the “white list” of nations receiving preferential treatment in export procedures would not be limited to the Japanese and ROK economies. He reportedly also said the two governments should consider reaching an agreement not to take any further actions in their disputes in order to buy time for dialogue. The official reportedly also voiced concern about attempts to stoke anti-Japanese sentiment in South Korea.
