President Trump allegedly told PM Abe the U.S. tolerates DPRK’s short-range missiles

Citing information revealed by diplomatic sources on Saturday, Kyodo News reported in a dispatch from Washington on Sunday morning that President Trump told Prime Minister Abe that he has tolerated North Korea’s launches of short-range ballistic missiles since May because his administration wants to keep the DPRK engaged in talks and prevent relations with Pyongyang from collapsing. Kyodo said that while Japan has continued to condemn the missile launches as a violation of UN resolutions, it has refrained from clearly responding to the U.S.’s approach because it needs U.S. cooperation in seeking a solution to the abduction issue.
