On Aug. 10, the Urasoe Police arrested a 26-year-old U.S. Marine sergeant stationed at the U.S. Marine Corps Camp Kinser for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) on Route 58 in the Makiminato district, Urasoe City. The charge is violation of the Road Traffic Act (DUI). The suspect denies the charge, saying, “I thought I had already sobered up.”

The allegation is that around 07:21 a.m. on Aug. 10 on Route 58 in the Makiminato district, Urasoe City, the suspect drove his car under the influence of alcohol (threefold the legal limit of 0.15 mg/liter of exhalation).

According to the Urasoe Police, a passersby noticed the suspect’s car remained motionless after the light turned green and called the police.
