On Aug. 18, the Okinawa Prefectural Police Department arrested a 30-year-old Petty Officer Second Class affiliated with the U.S. military’s Camp Foster for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) in Chatan, Chatan Town. The charge is violation of the Road Traffic Act (DUI). The suspect said, “I will not speak until a lawyer arrives.”

The allegation is that at around 5:10 a.m. on Aug. 18 in Chatan, Chatan Town, the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol (more than four times the legal limit of 0.15 mg/liter of exhalation). The police officer on patrol noticed the suspect’s car making a wide left-hand turn at an intersection and noticed that he was drunk during questioning. (Slightly abridged)
