A delegation of seven young LDP lawmakers, including Youth Division Director Hajime Sasaki, are visiting Taiwan from Aug. 19 to 23. They will meet with Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party and Kaohsiung City Mayor Han Kuo-yu of the main opposition party Kuomintang. They will also meet with Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je, who set up the Taiwanese People’s Party in August. It is rumored that all three will run in the presidential election in January 2020. “We will broadly enhance bilateral exchange with an eye also on the days after the presidential election,” said Sasaki at a press conference on Aug. 19.
