Food export headquarters to be set up in agriculture ministry

To expand the export of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and food products, the government will set up a command center to handle all export destination countries’ regulations in an integrated manner, sources revealed on Sept. 4. The organization is tentatively called the “headquarters for the export of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and food products.” The government aims to enact a bill related to the organization at the extraordinary Diet session to be held this autumn. – The “headquarters for the export of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and food products” (tentative name) headed by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will be established.

 

– The export headquarters will draw up and promote a basic export policy and perform coordination with relevant government agencies.

 

– The export headquarters will handle negotiations with export destination countries, advise domestic companies, and execute procedures in an integrated manner.

 

– The minister in charge will issue export certificates to business operators and certify food-related facilities for sanitation control.
