NHK and all commercial networks led with reports on Typhoon Faxai, which made landfall in the Kanto region early Monday morning, bringing strong winds and torrential rains. The powerful typhoon disrupted transportation services in the Tokyo metropolitan area, affecting hundreds of thousands of commuters at the start of the week.  According to NHK, the typhoon caused one death and 41 injuries in the Tokyo metropolitan area and Shizuoka Prefecture.
