On Sept. 10, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) announced the subsidies for political parties for 2019. The ministry has revised the initial amount determined in April based on the results of the July Upper House election. Eight political parties, excluding the Japanese Communist Party (JCP), will receive subsidies. The revised total amount stood at 31,484,837,000 yen.

The Party to Protect the People from NHK (NHK kara Kokumin wo Mamoru To), which has newly fulfilled the necessary conditions for a political party, will receive 69,831,000 yen. Reiwa Shinsengumi, another party that has recently met the conditions for a political party, will be allotted 67,123,000 yen. The anti-NHK party has reported that it has two members, party leader Takashi Tachibana and Lower House member Hodaka Maruyama.

The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) will receive the largest amount at 17,647,718,000 yen, which accounts for 56% of the total. The JCP did not apply for a subsidy because it is opposed to the subsidy system.
