London, Sept. 16 (Jiji Press) — British International Trade Secretary Liz Truss will visit Japan, Australia and New Zealand for a total of five days from Monday, the British government said the same day.
The tour is aimed at preparing for trade negotiations after Britain’s planned exit from the European Union at the end of October.
Truss will visit Japan on Friday, according to British government officials.
She said Britain is looking forward to holding free trade agreement negotiations with its trade partners after Brexit.
Truss, who formerly took the position that Britain should stay in the EU, adopted a hardline Brexit policy of not hesitating to accept the country’s departure from the EU without a deal when she joined the cabinet of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
