The government will establish new laws to help farmers and food processing firms expand their exports overseas. It will enable businesses to borrow money at a lower rate when they start using equipment that meets various safety standards set by countries where they ship their products. It will also make it easier for companies to export their products by designating the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) as a one-stop location for taking care of the procedures required for exporting. The legislation will be presented to the extraordinary Diet session to be convened in October for implementation from April 2020. (Abridged)
