Toyota to invest $391 mil. to renovate Texas assembly plant

NEW YORK — Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday it will invest $391 million at its truck assembly plant in Texas to better meet growing demand for pickup trucks.

 

The announced investment is part of the Japanese automaker’s commitment to invest $13 billion in its U.S. operations over five years through 2021.

 

Toyota assembles the full-size pickup Tundra and mid-size Tacoma at its San Antonio plant.

 

On the same day, Aisin AW Co., an auto parts supplier in the Toyota group, also said it will invest $400 million to build a new plant for automatic transmissions in Texas, creating 900 new jobs.
