According to a survey jointly conducted by the Kanagawa Shimbun and JX Press Corporation on Sept. 14–15, a total of 63.85% of Yokohama citizens are opposed to bringing an integrated resort (IR) with a casino to Yokohama. The Yokohama municipal government is working to attract such a facility to the city. The most frequently given reason for opposition was “a casino does not suit the image of Yokohama.” Some 72.48% of respondents said that a local referendum should be taken to seek the will of the people on the matter.
