Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi held a 25-minute teleconference with his British counterpart Dominic Raab on Sept. 18. Motegi asked him to minimize the adverse impact of Brexit on the world economy, saying, “I strongly hope that the UK’s exit from the European Union (EU) will be an orderly one based on an agreement with the EU.” Raab said, “We would like to handle the matter appropriately to avoid any adverse impact on Japanese companies’ economic activities in Europe.”
