Comments

LDP

Hiroshi Moriyama, chairperson, Diet Affairs Committee

Deals were kept within Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) levels. It was significant that Japan’s non-tariff rice import quota was eliminated.

Komeito

Kazuo Kitagawa, deputy representative

Japan and the U.S. were able to clinch a deal that can contribute to the growth of both countries’ economies.

CDPJ

Jun Azumi, chairperson, Diet Affairs Committee

This is not a win-win agreement for both countries. We must examine the details, such as what products Japan has made concessions on and to what extent, and how producers as well as consumers will be impacted.

DPFP

Kazuhiro Haraguchi, chairperson, Diet Affairs Committee

It is a big victory for the U.S. and a defeat for Japan. I am deeply disappointed.
