On Oct. 5, the Naha Police Station arrested a 24-year-old sergeant affiliated with the U.S. Marine Corps’ Camp Schwab for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). The charge is violation of the Road Traffic Act (DUI). “I slept [after I drank], so I thought the alcohol had worn off,” the suspect apparently said, denying the charges. In a breathanalyzer test, alcohol slightly over the legal limit was detected on the suspect’s breath. The allegation is that the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol at around 6:40 a.m. on Oct. 5 on a city road in Naha City’s Kumoji district. (Slightly abridged)
