Okinawa Times and Ryukyu Shimpo wrote that today marks the second anniversary of the incident in which a U.S. military CH-53 helicopter made an emergency landing and burst into flames in Takae, Higashi Village. The papers wrote that the owner of the farmland where the helicopter landed remains distrustful of the GOJ for its failure to pay compensation for the damage and determine the cause of the accident and that local residents are annoyed by the continued flight training of U.S. military helicopters in their vicinity.
