U.S. Marine arrested on DUI charge

The Okinawa Police arrested on the spot Harold Shade (sp.?), a 34-year-old sergeant first class of the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Okinawa, on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Law (driving under the influence of alcohol). The suspect allegedly drove while intoxicated on a municipal road in Mihama, Chatan Town, at around 2:05 a.m. on Oct. 12. The suspect has reportedly admitted the charge, saying the allegation is “true.”

 

The allegation is that at around 2:05 a.m. on Oct. 12 on municipal road in Mihama, Chatan Town, the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol with about threefold the legal limit (0.15 mg/liter of exhalation).

 

According to the Okinawa Police, an officer on patrol detected alcohol on the breath of the suspect, who made a right turn without signaling, during questioning in the line of duty.
