Tokyo, Oct. 15 (Jiji Press)–The Japan Business Federation, or Keidanren, hailed Tuesday efforts led by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party to restore fiscal health, including the Oct. 1 consumption tax increase from 8 pct to 10 pct.
In a report evaluating the policies of political parties, Keidanren, the largest business lobby in the country, said the LDP has been promoting its growth strategy, including digital innovation for data utilization.
The ruling camp “has been promoting its policies strongly both on the domestic and diplomatic fronts and producing results as a long-term, stable government,” Keidanren said, referring to the ruling camp of the LDP and its coalition partner, Komeito.
Also on Tuesday, Keidanren called on member companies and organizations to make donations to political parties, seeking cooperation for such donations for the sixth straight year.
Keidanren underlined the need for reforming the social security system in order to realize fiscal reconstruction and sustainable economic growth at the same time.
It also called for securing stability in energy supply through reactivation of nuclear reactors that have been confirmed safe.
