Japan and Saudi Arabia will cooperate in helping Japanese firms make inroads into the special economic zones to be established by the Middle Eastern country. The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and Saudi Arabia will jointly create a business environment that will make it easier for Japanese companies to set up shop in the special economic zones to be selected later this year. Japan will call on Saudi Arabia to relax regulations on investment, expedite customs clearance, and provide electricity at lower prices.
The two countries will announce the joint project on Oct. 23. (Abridged)
