Tuesday’s Okinawa Times and Ryukyu Shimpo wrote that an unnamed senior USG official commented on Monday on the Trump administration’s announcement that it will divert part of the defense budget to fund construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. The papers wrote that the official reportedly said the diversion will not affect the planned Marine relocation from Okinawa to Guam because funding for projects that will not affect the relocation plan has been selected for diversion.
