Tokyo, Oct. 23 (Jiji Press)–Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah informed Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Wednesday of the Brunei government’s decision to scrap import restrictions on Japanese food products imposed after the March 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster.

“I welcome (the decision) from my heart,” Abe told Bolkiah.

In their talks, held at the State Guest House Akasaka Palace in Tokyo, Abe and Bolkiah agreed to promote bilateral cooperation on a variety of areas such as defense.

Bolkiah was visiting Japan to attend the “Sokuirei-Seiden-no-Gi” enthronement proclamation ceremony for Japan’s Emperor Naruhito, which was held Tuesday.
