All national dailies reported on the start at a Lower House plenary session on Thursday of deliberations on GOJ-sponsored legislation to obtain parliamentary endorsement of the U.S.-Japan trade agreements. The papers wrote that although Prime Minister Abe stressed that the agreements are a win-win deal for both the United States and Japan, the opposition bloc argued that a firm commitment by the United States to eliminate tariffs on auto imports is not included in the deal. Yomiuri wrote that the opposition lawmakers criticized the prime minister for “unilaterally making concessions.”
