Yomiuri and Mainichi reported on Prime Minister Abe’s meeting with Iranian Vice President Jahangiri at the Akasaka Palace on Thursday. According to the papers, the two reaffirmed that Japan and Iran will work closely to ease tensions in the Middle East. Yomiuri wrote that Abe expressed concern over Iran’s enrichment of uranium beyond the limit set in the Iran nuclear deal and urged the nation to abide by the accord. Mainichi wrote that Japan’s plan to send an MSDF unit to the Middle East was not discussed in the talks.
