Security measures against possible cyberattacks against hospitals and medical devices are beginning to be adopted in Japan. DigiCert, a U.S. firm specialized in issuing digital certificates, will provide services that block unauthorized access to medical devices. A Sompo Holdings group firm will offer monitoring services to hospitals in partnership with an Israeli company. Cyberattacks on hospitals are increasing overseas as medical records and other digital information on patients are transacted at hefty prices in the black market. As Japan is slow in adopting cybersecurity measures, businesses expect solid demand for such services in Japan. (Abridged)
