The Okinawa Prefectural Police Department’s Ishikawa Police Station arrested three male U.S. Navy servicemen on the spot on suspicion of obstructing the execution of official duties by punching police car windows and committing other offenses on the night of Oct. 27.

According to the police, the suspects are three sailors age 30, 21, and 23. The three are suspected of conspiring together to punch the windows of a police car driven by police officers and to commit other offenses on a road in Onna Village in Okinawa Prefecture at around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 27. One of the sailors is also suspected of damaging the windshield of another police car by throwing a piece of lumber at it. The police say all three suspects were drunk.

Separately, the police station arrested another U.S. sailor, age 23, on the spot on suspicion of trespassing after he walked onto the grounds of a private home in Onna Village on the night of Oct. 27. The police say the sailor entered the premises after fleeing from a police officer who was trying to question him. The police are investigating this sailor’s relationship with the other three sailors arrested [that night]. (Slightly abridged)
