TOKYO — Japan’s industrial output in September rose 1.4 percent from the previous month, government data showed Thursday.
The seasonally adjusted index of production at factories and mines stood at 102.9 against the 2015 base of 100, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said in a preliminary report.
The result followed a 1.2 percent fall in August.
The index of industrial shipments rose 1.3 percent to 102.5, while that of inventories decreased 1.6 percent to 102.7.
Based on a poll of manufacturers, the ministry expects output to climb 0.6 percent in October and to fall 1.2 percent in November.
