During his visit to Thailand, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met for about 30 minutes with Thai Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prayut Chan-ocha in a suburb of Bangkok on Nov. 4. Prime Minister Prayut said that the government will mull joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade pact from a forward-looking perspective.
The two prime ministers agreed to further promote defense cooperation. They also exchanged views on the situation in the South China Sea and the North Korea situation, including the ballistic missile launches. The two leaders agreed to engage in close cooperation going forward.
