South Korean parliament speaker sent letter of apology to Emperor Emeritus

On a BS Fuji program on Nov. 6, the LDP’s Takeo Kawamura, who heads the suprapartisan Japan-Korea Parliamentarians’ Union, revealed that South Korean National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang has sent a letter of apology to His Majesty the Emperor Emeritus.

 

[In February] Moon said an apology from Emperor Akihito (currently the Emperor Emeritus) would resolve the comfort women issue.

 

The detailed content and the timing of the letter are not known. According to sources, Moon told Kawamura during their meeting on Nov. 3 that he had sent the letter.
