Abe and Micronesia leader to cooperate on “free and open Indo-Pacific”

Yomiuri wrote that Prime Minister Abe held talks with President Panuelo of the Federated States of Micronesia at the Kantei on Thursday. The paper wrote that the two leaders agreed to work together to achieve a “free and open Indo-Pacific” and confirmed their cooperation with the United States. Abe stated at the post-meeting joint press conference that Japan will strengthen its commitment to Pacific island nations. Sankei ran a similar story, adding that the two leaders confirmed that it is important to implement UN Security Council resolutions to denuclearize the DPRK.
