Abe told the Chinese official he is pleased with the steady development of cooperative relations between Japan and China. The premier also expressed his intention to attend a trilateral summit with China and South Korea next month and his hope to continue to work with Beijing to make President Xi’s visit to Japan next spring a significant event commensurate with the new era of Japan-China relations. Wang said in response that the ties between Japan and China are back on a normal track thanks to the efforts of the leaders of both countries, expressing hope Abe will continue to make contributions to the development of Sino-Japanese relations. According to the network, Abe commented on the situation in Hong Kong by reportedly saying it is important for an open and free Hong Kong to flourish under the “one country, two systems” principle.
