Monday’s Mainichi front-paged the results of its latest public opinion survey that put support for the Abe cabinet at 42%, down six points from a month ago, and nonsupport at 35%, up five points. More than seven out of ten respondents were apparently not satisfied with Prime Minister Abe’s and other GOJ officials’ explanations of the publicly financed cherry blossom viewing event hosted annually by the premier. About 60% felt that Abe has become “arrogant” as a result of being in office for so many years.
