U.S. embassy in Afghanistan mourns Nakamura’s death

Tokyo, Dec. 5 (Jiji Press)–The U.S. embassy in Kabul has offered condolences on the death of Japanese doctor Tetsu Nakamura, who was fatally shot in eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday.
   

“The legacy of Nakamura lives on in the countless Afghans who benefited from his compassion, care and selfless dedication,” the embassy said in a Twitter post Wednesday.
   

The embassy also expressed its condolences in Japanese.
   

Nakamura, 73, was engaged in humanitarian assistance work in Afghanistan, including medical care, irrigation construction and agriculture.
