Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation has announced that two of the firm’s foreign technical interns obtained “Specified Skills – Type 1,” a new residence status given to foreign workers. They have been working as contract workers since November and will be able to stay in Japan for up to five years. As the company is aiming to expand its marketing and service reach throughout Asia, it is committed to developing foreign human resources.

Mitsubishi Fuso has been hiring more foreigners since the government added “automobile repair and maintenance” to the technical intern training program in April 2016. As of the end of November 2019, 190 foreign workers form Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia were working as interns at its 77 locations across Japan.
