Asahi wrote that the U.S. and Japanese governments signed a joint statement on Thursday committing to enhancing mutual cooperation for advancing quantum computing technology. The two governments are set to create a mechanism that enables scientists and engineers to share methods, equipment, and data for the development of quantum computing so as to counter China’s growing presence on this front. Nikkei filed a similar story online. The business daily also reported today on an agreement forged between IBM and the University of Tokyo for research collaboration on quantum computing.
