Gov’t provides 7.9 billion yen in subsidies to eight political parties

On Dec. 20, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications disbursed a total of 7.93426 billion yen in the fourth tranche of 2019 government subsidies to eight political parties. The Japanese Communist Party did not apply for a subsidy as it is opposed to the subsidy system. The subsidies are provided in four installments a year. In order of amount, the subsidies provided to political parties were as follows:
