On Jan. 20, the Tomigusuku Police arrested a 57-year-old self-proclaimed English conversation instructor with no fixed address on charges of violating the Firearms and Sword Possession Control Law. The man, a dual U.S. and Colombian national, reportedly had seven bullets in a bag at the security check point at Naha Airport. The suspect reportedly denies the charge, saying, “I knew there were bullets in the bag, but I didn’t know it was illegal to possess bullets.”
