On Jan. 30, the government convened the Cyber Security Strategy Headquarters and decided on the details of a one-stop evaluation system for secure cloud services. Starting this autumn, it is planning to gradually switch information systems of all ministries over to the cloud. Entities such as the National Center for Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC) will evaluate and oversee the cloud and provide information to each ministry and agency. The private sector will also be encouraged to use it.
At present, government ministries and agencies manage and maintain their information systems at their own expense. If the systems are switched to the cloud, they will be able to reduce costs and respond to technological innovations promptly. The government plans to carry out the transfer to the cloud over a period of four to eight years. (Abridged)
