Yomiuri, Nikkei, and Sankei wrote that Chief Cabinet Secretary Suga told the press on Monday that Japan will host a meeting of leaders from Pacific island nations and territories in the coastal city of Shima, Mie Prefecture, in 2021. Nikkei quoted Suga as saying that the participants will further strengthen their cooperation through discussions on conservation of maritime resources and cooperation in disaster management. Yomiuri wrote that the summit has been held every three years since 1997 and this will be the ninth meeting.
