Most networks led with reports on the new coronavirus, with NHK saying that Health Minister Kato told the press this morning that the ministry is considering testing all passengers and crew members of the Diamond Princess for the coronavirus before they disembark. Other networks said companies in China have resumed operations today after an extended Chinese holiday in response to the coronavirus outbreak. According to the networks, the death toll from the new coronavirus has reached 908 and the number of infected people has topped 40,000 in China. NHK said 1,236 people in Hubei Province are suffering from serious symptoms of the coronavirus. 

 

Meanwhile, NTV gave top play to a report that the Tokyo District Court decided this morning to release on bail Lower House member Tsukasa Akimoto, who was arrested on charges of receiving bribes from a Chinese gaming operator.
