On Feb. 8, the Naha Police arrested a 24-year-old U.S. Marine lance corporal affiliated with the U.S. military’s Futenma airfield on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Law (driving under the influence of alcohol). The suspect allegedly drove a car while intoxicated on a city road in the Kumoji district of Naha City. The suspect reportedly partially denied the charge, saying “Although I had a drink, I was not drunk so I thought I was okay.”
The suspect was arrested on charges of driving a passenger car under the influence of alcohol at about four times the legal limit (0.15 mg/liter of exhalation) on a city road in Naha City at around 7:20 a.m. on Feb. 8.
