Japanese, ROK foreign ministers agree to continue talks on former requisitioned workers

The Sunday editions of Mainichi and Nikkei reported that Foreign Minister Motegi and his ROK counterpart Kang held talks in Munich on Saturday, during which they confirmed the importance of swiftly resolving the pending issue of former requisitioned workers and agreed to continue diplomatic talks. According to Mainichi, Kang reiterated the ROK government’s call on Japan to swiftly ease its tightened export controls and stressed that “Japan needs to swiftly take more visible and sincere measures.” Motegi reportedly explained the GOJ’s view that Japan’s export controls were tightened from a security perspective.
