DM Kono: North Korea launched low-altitude short-range ballistic missiles

Jiji Press reported that Defense Minister Kono disclosed to the press today the results of an analysis of the two projectiles North Korea launched on Monday, saying that they were low-altitude short-range ballistic missiles that are difficult for radar to detect. Kono also pointed out the possibility that North Korea also tested multiple rocket launchers. The defense chief reportedly said: “North Korea is trying to acquire various technologies. We need to enhance our comprehensive air defense capabilities.” Kono reportedly pointed out that the missiles North Korea launched on Monday were of the same style as the solid-fuel low-altitude missiles North Korea launched from August to November last year. He reportedly explained: “The missiles flew for about 240 km at a lower altitude than the scud missiles North Korea possesses.”
